In light of the recent protests sparked by the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, New Note recognises the ongoing struggle that many face with regards to discrimination and structural racism. Racist crimes and the devastating impact that COVID-19 is having on the BAME communities across the world need to be recognised and challenged.
We know that the arts can play a vital role in challenging ingrained prejudice. New Note will do all it can to act in solidarity with those who have experienced racial oppression and are struggling for justice.
On Tuesday 16th June, the orchestra will hold a minute’s silence to mark the death of George Floyd and the many others who have died from racist violence.
We stand against racism
We stand for social justice
We use music-making as a force for positive change.
